  What about References?
 

Over the last few years a lot of employers have asked for preliminary reference checks for short listed candidates.

If this is the case, once you've been short listed and have agreed to have your resume put forward, we will ask you for references. We understand that you may want to protect your references from receiving too many calls. We will talk to you about which references would be suitable for these preliminary checks.

At the preliminary check stage, we will be checking that your references can verify your work and work habits. We could also ask about some specific skill set that you have for which our client is looking and ask your reference for your capabilities. We want to know about you so we can present you as a candidate worth considering. If we have any questions we will talk with you before your resume is put forward.

Once you have been through the interview process and are offered the position, we will perform our final reference checks. These will be different references than those you followed up earlier in the process. Again we will discuss with you, whom you think will be most appropriate to follow up at this stage.
